The Rain Drops of Joy and Sorrow!

“I slept, and I dreamt that life is all Joy. I woke, and I saw that life is all Service. I served, and I saw that service is JOY”!! Kahlil Gibran.

It was a rainy day –

With thundering, lightening and the sun at bay,

I sat near the window pane, watching the rain drops at the windows lashing,

The rain drops shone like diamonds with the lightening flashing,

All the rain drops competed as if in a race,

Though each rain drop runs the window pane at its own pace!!

These rain drops are like Joy and Sorrow,

Pouring on you in the past, today and tomorrow,

If joy is with you today, then sorrow will follow,

What is your joy can be the reason of your sorrow tomorrow?

Some say joy is greater than sorrow, but they are inseparable I swallow,

In times of joy I like to share, and everyone’s sorrow I like to borrow!!

Joy gives us wings to fly,

Sorrow gives strength to the wings to fly high,

Like we cherish our joy, we should cherish our sorrows,

Because what pain does to us is wonderful for our tomorrows,

It breaks the shell that encloses our understanding forever,

The man that learns from his pain is wise and clever!!

Rise like the phoenix from your ashes,

You can conquer every thundering, lightening and flashes,

Trust the Great Physician and his bitter potion,

He helps heal our sick self, his hand of tender clay, and his love deeper than any ocean,

Many of our pain is self-chosen so drink his remedy in silence and tranquillity,

In life you will become a treasury box of serenity and solidity!!

Hello Everyone,

Trust you like the poem. I am expressing my feelings on Joy and Sorrow this time, I have written poems on Hope, Gratitude, Love and few humorous ones. Now its time for Joy and Sorrow. Joy and Sorrow both are part of our lives but we all welcome only Joy because we feel we deserve it. However, when we face struggle and Sorrow, we never are comfortable with it and so we feel we do not deserve to face it, what an irony and mockery of destiny because we only plan and decide our fate…!! We make such a big deal about “Ourselves”

I will share a short story here to explain deeper:

There was this man who never really went out of the way to help others or do anything good, was self centred and just did what was required for a living. One day the Angel of Death came and took him as his time had come. On reaching the gates the Angel welcomed him into his own area and said, “This place is all yours, you can do whatever you like, everything is free, food will be served, and your every basic requirement will be taken care off”. The man was so happy that even though he did not do great deeds, he got a place in heaven and such great treatment. He was enjoying all the luxuries for free without doing much of hard work. Days went by, weeks passed, then slowly he started getting bored, he asked the angel “What kind of life is this in Heaven, Hell life must be better? The Angel answered – “This is Hell only not Heaven, don’t assume”!!

I hope you understand the deep message this story is trying to tell us: A life without challenges, struggles, risks, sorrows or any kind of resistance is a life of hell. When we get what we want without taking any risks, no challenges, we start thinking we are always right – we learn nothing from life, that life is leading to sorrows in the long run, mind gets stagnated and gradually stagnated water breeds only diseases and stinks.

Real Joy is a life that is free flowing like a stream of river water cutting through rocks, and every obstacle, resistance that comes in the way, keeps flowing in its own flexibility maintaining its grace and dignity.

One must go through immense struggles and challenges to earn real Joy. A great life lived is a life well struggled!! For example, when a person starts exercising, he works against the resistance of the body, lifts weights and stretches his body stamina to level not known to him before. That’s when he starts getting a well chiselled structure, muscles and looks like Adonis 😊!! Working against the resistance of his body he is building his immunity and a healthy future for himself. So, a life full of resistance shows you are in the right path.

Let’s cherish Sorrow just like we cherish our Joys, lets help each other in bad times, keep the hope high, fill everyone with positivity, learn to smile even in our worst moments. Because when things happen as per our wish that’s good, but when things are not happening the way we want – its more good as its happening as per HIS wish and however bad the situation looks now, HE always knows the best for us!!

Shakespeare once said: Sorrows are like serpents, they come with full venom, but these serpents have a big diamond on the head!! Meaning if we conquer the serpent named sorrow; we surely will be blessed with the rarest diamond called Joy in the end – and that Joy will change you forever!!

Keep Smiling always – Molly 🙂
